King Khalid Medical City to be ready in 2018

Dr. Ibrahim Al-Arifi, the Executive Director of Clinical and Medical Affairs at King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Dammam, said that work on establishing the King Khalid Medical City will begin at the end of 2014.

Al-Arifi said that Saudi Aramco has allocated the land for the project 20 km southwest of Dhahran and the project will be completed in 2018.

He said, “King Khalid Medical City will be the leading center of excellence for specialized health care in the Eastern Province and will include seven centers of excellence: Cardiovascular, neurosciences, rehabilitation, multi-neurosciences, multi-organ transplant, genetic organ transplant, genetic & metabolic, ophthalmology, and oncology & metabolic, ophthalmology and oncology.”

According to data available with Arab News, King Khalid Medical City will be constructed on an area of about 700,000 square meters and include 1,500 beds. The total cost of the project is SR4.6 billion.
