Saudi Arabia arrests 62 Accused of Ties to Yemeni and Syrian Terrorists
Security authorities have arrested 62 militants accused of having ties to terrorists in Yemen and Syria and suspected of planning attacks on government installations and foreign interests and of plotting to assassinate security officials, the state news agency reported Tuesday. The Saudi Press Agency quoted the Interior Ministry spokesman, Maj. Gen. Mansour al-Turki, as saying the group included a Palestinian, a Yemeni and a Pakistani. He said the authorities had been monitoring the group for months on the Internet. He said those arrested had coordinated with members of Al Qaeda in Yemen and Syria, and had started drawing plans for smuggling weapons and preparing attacks, including strikes on Saudi clerics and senior government officials.
