MERS takes 5 more lives; Saudi toll now 168

Five more deaths from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) coronavirus were reported by the Health Ministry on Saturday, raising the Kingdom’s death toll from the respiratory ailment to 168.

The latest bulletin posted on the ministry website also said nine more cases of MERS infections, taking the total number of cases to 629 since the September 2012.

Three of the latest fatalities — a woman aged 80 and males aged 67 and 55 — died at a government hospital in Jeddah.

The two other deaths were 71-year-old male in Riyadh and a 77-year-old male in Madinah.
