National Guard pushes for progress

National Guard Minister Prince Miteb bin Abdullah had a meeting with Saudi businessmen and citizens at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) on Tuesday.

Addressing the audience in the forum, he said Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah views the homeland and the citizenry as one making it important for merchants, businessmen and citizens to participate in the country’s march toward progress and support the government in its endeavors.

Prince Miteb stressed the role of the military, security institutions and the role of National Guard in the development of the national economy and maintaining the security and stability of the Kingdom.

Listing the contributions of the National Guard toward the development of the country, the prince said that it had organized various forums, events, national festivals for heritage and culture, urged the youth to participate in these events and in awareness programs for the community.

He also thanked the Minister of Commerce and Industry Tawfiq Al-Rabiah and JCCI Chairman Saleh Kamel for their expertise and leadership to support the youth in different initiatives leading to the development of the country, noting the many contributions of the JCCI in this regard.

He also emphasized the need for a balanced relationship between businessmen and the consumers to benefit the interests of both parties and provide consumer protection from inflation.

Commending the role of the private sector in the development of the country, he pointed out the huge steps it had taken in training and rehabilitation and supporting small and medium enterprises which represent 90 percent of the Saudi economy.

“It is a moment of pride for the Kingdom to be ranked among the world’s top 20 countries for it being the largest economy in the Middle East region,” he said.

In his address, Saleh Kamel welcomed Prince Miteb, the dignitaries, businessmen and citizens.
He spoke warmly of Prince Miteb, his experiences and qualifications and said that the ongoing development boom in the country is evidence of the wise leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
