Shoura demands housing for private sector Saudi workers

The Shoura Council has called on the social security institution to implement a resolution to build housing projects for private sector Saudi employees.

The council’s management and human resources committee said the seven-year-old decision wasn’t mentioned in the institution’s 2013-2014 annual report that the committee discussed.
But it will be discussed in the Shoura Council’s session next Tuesday. The idea is to have a similar housing program to that of “Masaken”, implemented by the Public Pension Agency.

The council noted that the report also lacked data about the institution’s external investments violating the disclosure commitment. The report only mentions that the external investments compromise 35 percent of the institution’s overall ventures. The council said the report needs sufficient data regarding the sectors within which it operates, the minimal risk and the return on investments. The committee had a three-year-old decision on that matter.

“Reports need to declare detailed information regarding the institution’s external investments, the same way it declares the internal investments based on its commitment to declare its investment activity,” the decision states.

The committee recommended that female job incumbency be increased.
