An Arab expatriate has been arrested after attempting to ram a car into his employer’s building after he was fired.

The 30-year-old expat, believed to be Syrian, had newly arrived to the Kingdom to work as a driver for the Saudi family.

Security guards managed to pin down the suspect, who caused partial damage to the building, and prevent him from injuring people in and around the building.

“The man worked for a Saudi citizen who owns a private hospital in Jeddah,” said Lt. Aati Al-Qurashi, Makkah police spokesman.

“This was an apparent act of revenge after he was fired from his job.”

“The man was driving a BMW 90 that belongs to his sponsor when he entered the premises,” he said. “Security guards opened the hospital gates thinking it was just another day. Little did they know that the driver, who had come in routinely since being hired, had actually been fired.”
