Indian students writing the grade 12 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations have performed well across the country including in Jeddah, Dammam, Riyadh and Jubail.

There was a 100 percent pass rate at the International Indian School-Jeddah (IISJ). Several students achieved outstanding marks, it was revealed when the results were announced on Thursday.

“We have achieved a 100 percent [pass rate] for the fourth consecutive year,” said Syed Masood Ahmed, principal of the IISJ. “This is an honor for our school. We have maintained our standards and are aiming to achieve even higher goals,” Ahmed told Arab News.

He congratulated the students, teachers, parents and the managing committee for their cooperation in taking the school to new heights.

Raqib Hasan Khan scored top marks with 97 percent followed by Jumana Jamal with 95.4 percent and Abin Raji Varghese in third position with 94.8 percent. Khan scored 100 percent in chemistry and Asif Ali Puthukkolly Ali achieved 100 percent in mathematics.

A total of 484 students sat for the examinations at the IISJ, with 40 getting over 90 percent while 463 passed with 60 percent and over. “Qualitatively, the school has again set new records. There are 1,449 distinctions in different subjects and 577 A grades,” the principal said.
Students of the International Indian School-Dammam (IISD) also performed well with Ranju Raju scoring 97.4 percent in the science stream, the highest result in the Kingdom. Dhivya Akilan came in second with 96.6 percent, while Mohamed Akram Khan got third place with 96.4 percent.

Shajitha Begum Mohamed Ali came first in commerce with 93.2 percent with Syeda Saniya Fatima second with 92.8 percent and Fatima Unaiza third with 92 percent. Swetha Venkatachalam came first in humanities with 92.6 percent followed by Sana Viqar with 90.6 percent and Sujud Khatib with 89.6 percent.

Ranju Rajan and Mohamed Akkram scored 100 percent in chemistry while Shajitha Begum Mohamed Ali scored 100 percent in informatics practice. Other performers were Fathimath Naima and Liyana Shirin in English with 98 percent, Swetha Venkatachalam with 98 percent in geography, Ashly Dominic with 97 percent in economics, and Mohammed Nadeem Rasheed Khan and Ambadan Habeeb Freesia with 99 percent in mathematics.

Ranju Raju scored 96 percent in physics, Hiba Khan 97 percent in psychology, Maryam Moinuddin 95 percent in business studies, and Basima Tasneem 98 percent in biology. Fatima Unaiza, Shajitha Begum Mohamed Ali, Syeda Saniya Fatima and Ria Raichaudhuri scored 95 percent in accountancy, Anjhana S.N. Vellappally with 98 percent in biotechnology, and Afiya A. Modasiya with 96 percent in home science. Georgy Joseph Thomas, Ranju Raju, Arul Noble Jose Rohan and Syed Adeel Abdullah scored 99 percent in computer science.

“It must be specially mentioned that the IISD results are qualitatively superior to some of the best CBSE schools in the Gulf and India,” said IISD principal Mohammed Shaffe. “Out of 577 students who sat for the exam 51 scored above 90 percent while 139 scored between 80 and 89 percent. Another 152 students scored between 70 and 79 percent and 146 scored between 60 and 69 percent,” he said.

Girls at the Indian International School-Riyadh (IISR) once again performed better than the boys in the examinations. Speaking to Arab News after the results were announced, S.M. Shaukat Perwez, principal of the IISR, said: “Girls have outshone boys this year because many girls topped the list.”

He said the top performers were Arshiya Mufti who scored 96.4 percent in the science stream, and Daniya Helal and Tooba Manal Sohel Ahmed who scored 94.4 percent and 86.4 percent respectively in the humanities.

Perwez said the school had a 96.15 percent pass rate this year, with 649 out of 675 boys and girls passing. He said there were 487 students with first class passes and distinctions, with 78 falling into the second division. Vishak Prakash came first among the boys with 94.4 percent.
Perwez thanked and congratulated the school managing committee and the parents and students for the school’s success. Many parents said they were delighted with the results.

The International Indian School-Jubail saw all the students pass science and commerce streams, said principal Syed Hameed, who thanked the students and teachers for their hard work, and parents for their support. Sivakumar Nikita scored 94.4 percent in the science stream while Kumar Sudeep Sharma and Rahul Agrawal scored 93.8 percent. In commerce, Alan Peter Thomas scored 93.6 percent and Shafa Siraj 90.8 percent.

Mairaj Mohammad Khan, principal of the Delhi Public School in Riyadh, said: “We are glad to announce that all our students passed the exam with flying colors.” Saroj Raghunath placed first with 94.2 percent, and Raj Manglani and Reha Ashraf came second and third with 92.8 and 92 percent respectively.

He said the other top scorers were Aisha Khan, Faiqa Hamdani, Mehvish Shayvaar, Nadia Basheer, Ruth Catherina Solomon, Pratyusha Satpathy, Isra Syed Siraj, Faris Mohammad Azam, Mohammed Fayaz, Mohammad Aariz Akhtar and Syed Amaan Tariq with 95 percent in English, Manglani with 95 percent in physics, and Ashraf with 96 percent in chemistry.
Manglani scored 98 percent in mathematics and 90 percent in biology. Raghunath got 98 percent in economics and 95 percent in business studies. Asmath Ruhi scored 95 percent in business studies and 95 percent in accountancy.
