A large fire broke out on Monday at a farm in Umm Al-Hamam town in Qatif, damaging some structures on the estate. Four Civil Defense teams were dispatched to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby farms and workers’ residence buildings.
Col. Ali Al-Qahatani, spokesman of the General Directorate of the Civil Defense in the Eastern Province, said that additional units were requested to put out the blaze.

“The Civil Defense department in Qatif received a report about a fire spreading on a farm on the agricultural road between Umm Al-Hamam and Jaroudia town at 11:50 a.m.,” he indicated.

Civil Defense teams were dispatched immediately to the location, he noted, and managed to contain the blaze. The spokesman added that no injuries were sustained from the fire and investigations are underway to determine the reasons behind the fire outbreak.

In a related incident, another fire broke out at Al-Malaha, and no injuries were reported.
Fire accidents occur more often during the summer season due to high temperatures and strong winds.
