116 Saudis graduate from German institute

A total of 116 young Saudi students graduated from the Technical Trainers College (TTC) in Riyadh on Tuesday.

A total of 116 young Saudi students graduated from the Technical Trainers College (TTC) in Riyadh on Tuesday.

A total of 116 young Saudi students graduated from the German-run Technical Trainers College (TTC) in Riyadh on Tuesday after completing their three-year Bachelor of Engineering Technology degrees.

According to the TTC, 247 students graduated in the academic year 2013/2014. They specialized in production technology, refrigeration and air conditioning, telecommunications, networks and systems administration, electrical machines, electronics, electrical power and applications development.

Saudi officials and parents of the graduates attended the graduation ceremony. Yousef Al-Hoshan, a lecturer in Islamic Studies and Student Counseling, delivered a lecture.

Interim Dean Erwin Schulz congratulated the graduates on their success. “You can be proud of yourselves and I am proud of you,” Schulz said.

He said the graduates would now start a new chapter in their lives. He also handed over the duties of the dean to his successor, Werner Stueber, who had his first day in office.

In his introductory speech, Stueber outlined his vision for the TTC, which focuses on a holistic approach to education. “We want to unleash the imagination and creative potential of the future elites. When we combine vision, ingenuity and technological know-how and, in view of training trainers, values and beliefs, a giant step is taken in educating the Kingdom’s future professional individuals,” he said.

“These three years were like a dream come true,” said Adel Ali Obaid Muattish on behalf of the students. He also thanked the entire TTC team for their commitment during their studies.

The best students were awarded a crystal trophy for their achievements along with the names of the graduates for the year 2011/12 with the highest scores in each specialization.
The top students were Sayfuldeen Suwayid A. Alsuhaymi (Networks), Adel Ali O. Muattish (Electric Power), Ibrahim Mohammed A. Alzahrani (Production Technology), Ahmad Ayed S. Aljhany (Electronics), Abdulrahman Ibrahim Y. Alobaisi (Electrical Machines), Mansour Abdullah M. Alhumaidan (Telecommunications) and Mohammed Yahya S. Albajhan (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning).

Khalid Saeed A. Alshahrani won the TTC Social Award. A special award was given to Essa Adel Essa Aldooh who helped to develop the Student Council.

The bachelor award winners for 2011/12 intake were: Haidar Jafar A. Al-Dhahi, Ahmed Awadh M. Al-Dehwi, Ibrahim Mohammed A. Alzahrani, Mohammed Yahya S. Albajhan, Ahmad Ali H. Alfaify, Mubayyit Ali S. Albariqi, Moayad Omar M. Bajafar, Abdulrahman Ibrahim Y. Alobaisi and Fawaz Mohammed A. Almalki.

The winners of the awards from the 2011/12 intake were: Abdulsalam Othman N. Alfaqiri, Abdulaziz Ibrahim A. Alsadhan, Hussain Ali M. Alfajri, Ahmed Abdullah A. Alabdullah and Saeed Saad T. Alshahrani.

The TTC is the first institution in the Kingdom that specializes in vocational training. Modern didactics and state-of-the-art methodology has made the TTC a pioneer in higher vocational pedagogy in the Gulf Region.

It is the only learning institution accredited by the Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency of Germany (ZEVA in German). TTC has around 1,000 students and is administered by the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ in German) on behalf of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) of Saudi Arabia.
