64,478 traffic offenses during exams

The Riyadh Traffic Department reported 64,478 cases of traffic offenses during exams in Riyadh, local media said.

The traffic offenses included irregular parking 13,116 cases, window tinting (11,446), breaking traffic signals (10,135), use of mobile phones (9,617), over-speeding (8,776), driving without a license (7,632), and driving against the traffic direction (3,756), the department said.

On the other hand, police patrols tracked down 69 car drifters, seized 226 cars, and arrested 155 spectators. Another 1,077 people were stopped for violations related to over-speeding and breaking traffic signals.

During the exams, the traffic policemen helped 37 students to reach their exam centers to avert possible delay as a result of traffic accidents or engine failure of their cars, the department said.
