MAKKAH — Water truck drivers in Makkah have complained that it is hard to maneuver around steep streets and they try to avoid them as much as possible, Makkah daily reported.

Ghulam Qasim complained of the obstacles he and other tanker drivers face in rundown neighborhoods where streets are narrow, steep and generally difficult to negotiate.

Another truck driver, Abdulqader Abdulshakoor, said some residents hide the fact that their houses are on a steep hill and the driver finds out only when he reaches the location.

He said trucks drivers refuse to deliver water to houses on steep streets because it is hard to brake and maneuver.

Khalid Qasim, a driver, believes the solution to this problem is using mid-size water tankers to deliver water to rundown and steep areas.

Residents in Makkah said they were pleasantly surprised to not suffer from the usual water shortages during the month of Shaaban.
