Deputy Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Salman with the prize winners at a reception in his office in Jeddah on Tuesday.

Deputy Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Salman, who is also chairman of the board of directors of the Darah (the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives) distributed certificates of honor to the winners of the Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz Prize and Grants for Arabian Peninsular historical studies and researches in its fifth edition and the winners of the King Abdul Aziz Prize for Writers in its first edition, at a reception in his office in Jeddah on Tuesday.

“Their efforts to produce scientific works will be a support to the historical library which will serve as a rich source of information for future generations to learn about their past and present to enable them to take firm and confident steps toward a brilliant tomorrow filled with achievements,” Prince Salman said commending the efforts of the winners for their painstaking researches in the history of the Kingdom and the Arabian Peninsula.

The winners in the non-Saudi category are Chairman of the Kuwaiti Research and Studies Center Abdullah Al-Ghonaim of Kuwait and former professor at Imam Muhammad Islamic University Abdul Fatah Abu Ali of Jordan.

Prizes for the Saudi category went to Abdul Latif Al-Homaidan of the King Saud University and Abdul Aziz Kaaki of the Madinah Mayor’s office, former Shoura Council Member Abdul Rahman Al-Shabili, researcher in Saudi history and former Shoura Council member Muhammad Al-Zulfa, director of Al-Zulfa Cultural Center.

The winners in the category for thesis papers for master’s and doctoral degrees are Tahani Al-Ojaji of Princess Noura University, Saud Al-Ghamdi of King Saud University, Badriyah Al-Otaibi of King Saud University and Sarah Al-Zahrani of the Imam Muhammad Islamic University.

While Saleh Al-Senadi of the Imam Muhammad Islamic University won the prize for the works in the translation category, Dalal Al-Saeed (King Abdul Aziz University) won the prize for scientific essays.

Prince Salman also honored the winners of King Abdul Aziz Prize for best writer. The winners included Ahmed Al-Faie of King Khaled University, Badar Al-Faqir and Saleh Al-Ghamdi of King Saud University.

The vice custodian also launched the latest 12- volume publication of the Darah carrying the title ‘A Dictionary of towns and tribes in the Arabian Peninsula, Iraq, South Jordan and Sinai.’
