Shoura team in China to improve ties

A delegation from the Saudi-Chinese Friendship Committee at the Shoura Council began an official visit to China on Tuesday with the aim to improve parliamentary relations.

Suleiman bin Saad Al-Hamid, the committee chairman, is leading the delegation, which includes several members of the committee including Saadoun Al-Sadoun, Abdulaziz Al-Hadlaq, Abdullah Al-Joghiman, Dalal Al-Harbi, and Nora Al-Asqa.

The group is also accompanied by Abdulaziz Al-Murshid, the director of the Saudi-Chinese Parliamentary Friendship Committee, and Ahmed Salman, in charge of public relations and protocol at the Shoura Council.

Al-Hamid said the delegation was invited by the permanent committee of the Chinese People’s National Congress to discuss relationship between the two countries and the mutual desire to support parliamentary cooperation.

Al-Hamid said Saudi Arabia values its bilateral relations with China and plans to improve ties in various areas with the support of Custodian of thse Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Deputy Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Salman.

The delegation will meet senior officials of the Chinese People’s National Congress, and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Commerce.

The head of the delegation confirmed the Shoura Council’s commitment to strengthen Saudi-China relations at various levels, particularly parliamentary ties. He praised the efforts of the committee and the Shoura Council to improve links with other parliamentary councils.

He said Shoura President Abdullah Al-Asheikh wants to boost cooperation with Gulf, Arab and other Parliaments.

Saudi Ambassador Yahya Al-Zaid organized a gala dinner for the visiting delegation.
