Toyota announced that it is going through its distributor Abdul Latif Jameel Co. (ALJ) to recall specific Yaris models built between 2006 and 2010 for a special maintenance campaign.

Toyota pointed out that the recall is to replace the seat track, to avoid movement of the spring that locks the seat in position in case of accidents. ALJ will announce the campaign through local newspapers very soon after completion of preparations and arrival of spare parts from Japan.

However, ALJ spokesperson stated that the recall is a preventative measure only and it is not expected that all vehicles will experience this condition. He added that owners of the models included in the campaign will be contacted as per the procedures adopted in previous similar campaigns conducted by the company.

ALJ confirmed that all tests and installations will be free of cost during the campaign, which comes in line with ALJ’s efforts to achieve continuous improvement.

According to Nielsen, Focal Point and the ALJ studies, customer satisfaction ranged between 82 percent and 86 percent in 2013, during which the company provided 57,000 training hours for its after-sales service staff, and provided 22 million work hours in the field of maintenance.
