Many highway service stations in the Kingdom lack even the basic facilities.

Transport Minister Jubarah Al-Suraisry said that the ministry has given highway service stations a period of four years to improve their conditions and provide better services.

“Service stations should either improve their quality of service in accordance with the new specifications or face closure following the end of the grace period,” warned Al-Suraisry.

“A technical and specialized committee has been commissioned to construct gas stations on the highways which will follow the model of such stations in the GCC countries,” he said, adding that the new stations will be established according to the high standards specified in the regulations where customers will be offered all the amenities including fuel, mosques, hygienic restrooms for men and women, coffee shops and restaurant chains.
