Specialists attend the annual dermatology symposium hosted by the Saudi German Hospital.

Dermatology is a challenging specialty of medicine, and numerous advances have been made in the area of the therapy of skin diseases.

Recently, the Saudi German Hospitals (SGH) organized the 11th annual dermatology symposium and workshop at the hospital’s auditorium in Jeddah with the aim of highlighting the recent advances in therapy in the field of dermatology, venereology and cosmetology. The meeting also discussed the high professional standards of professional and health services in the hospitals.

Around 250 doctors from different Arab countries attended the symposium. Eminent faculty members were invited to interact with experienced and well-known distinguished speakers and luminaries during the scientific deliberations with their knowledge, skills and vast experience. Dr. Gamal Hashem, president of the event and head of the Dermatology Department at SGH, said: “The conference was a success in delivering new ideas, strategies and tactics in the field of skin therapy.”

The annual scientific meeting mainly aimed at serving a continuous medical educational program which is one of the main missions of the SGH group.

Beside the lectures, the latest advances in treatment and management of specialties were discussed along with plenary lectures, sub-specialty symposia, interactive sessions, group discussions, video presentations and laser workshops. Moreover, modality of hair transplantation, advance procedures of cosmetology, fillers, botox and mesotherapy were discussed in the workshop to update the attendees with the latest developments.

Hashem said: “In this symposium, we offered the dermatologists a unique platform to exchange information, share education, experience and discover our work in an interactive atmosphere and be a part of intellectual discussion.”

He added that the attendees did not only gain knowledge of diagnosing typical problems but were able to build a friendly relationship in order to provide the local community with the best medical services.

“The conference was a great platform for distinguished speakers to share valuable and up to date knowledge and exchange information. The conference proved to have a great potential in enhancing participants’ clinical experiences,” he said.
