EP seafronts attract visitors‏‎

The Eastern Province Mayoralty has intensified its preparations to receive a large number of visitors expected to visit the tourist areas in the province, particularly the seafronts of Dammam, Alkhobar, Qatif Jubail and Alkhafji.

The seafronts have been equipped with amenities geared to family needs such as entertainment facilities for children, cafes, restaurants, walkways and green areas, ports and specified spots along the waterfront for water activities.

The mayoralty has invested heavily in the seafront projects which have been designed with an eye for aesthetics using state-of-the-art architectural techniques which include an open view of the sea from any place on the beach.

The Dammam waterfront is located in the west of Al-Shatti neighborhood stretching along the corniche’ from the north to the south where the lagoon entertainment park is situated extending 4 km in length and 500 meters wide in the central area of the waterfront.

The waterfront also includes an 18,000 square meters open space for holding public celebrations and festivals such as Eid, holidays, national events and open exhibitions. There is also a 14,000 square meters area for people who want to do fishing along the seafront.

The major attraction of the waterfront is the green landscapes along the corniche’. The design of these landscapes has taken into account the best types of trees and plants equipped with a central irrigation system. The walkways are lit up by ornamental light poles which throw glancing rays onto the paths endowing them with a dreamlike quality.

The seafront has a main entrance, gates, fountains and water areas spread over 23 thousand square meters and which also contains a jogging and cycling tracks.

The Eastern province mayoralty said that it is keen on maintaining the investment projects at the waterfront where there are a number of restaurants, traditional villages, entertainment centers, investment opportunities such as a port for boats, a bowling hall in addition to public services such as mosques, public toilets, and parking lots.

In Alkhobar, the implementation of the waterfront projects was executed in three phases. The waterfront contains a main square, with a 2500-meter long pedestrian path, inland lakes, a 15-meters high fountain, 22 thousand square meters of squares and sidewalks, a 75 thousand square meters green landscape area and walking and cycling tracks.

Qatif’s waterfront includes all the elements of touristic and municipal services around the clock, children’s playgrounds with safety requirements, restaurants, public restrooms, landscapes and other facilities.

The aim of the seafront projects is to improve the sites to become tourist attractions and entertainment landmarks for the benefit of residents and visitors.

Jubail is also popular among tourists for its beaches. Al-Nakheel beach (Palm Beach) is a famous beach, which is located on Road 6, Jubail Industrial City.

The fresh air of the beach and the scenic beauty is best enjoyed in the early hours of the morning when one can witness the picturesque rising of the sun and take in the serenity.

The white sandy beach dotted with palm trees is perfect for sun basking. Basic services such as toilets and changing rooms are also available at the beach.

Al-Fanateer beach is another well-known pristine beach and waterfront especially famous for its vast stretch of palm trees. The beach can be explored on foot and in the evening visitors can enjoy the good infrastructural facilities, cafes, and restaurant chains, grill places, a theater and much more.

Tourists can also visit Darren, which is a beautiful beach known for its children’s playground. Tourists especially visit this beach in the evening to get a glimpse of the setting sun.

Al-Andalus and Al-Deffe parks have basic services such as toilets; restaurants and free Wi-Fi Internet are also available at the parks. It is recommended to visit these parks in the afternoons during winters and summers.
