Justice Minister Mohammed Al-Eissa on Wednesday disclosed plans to establish new courts of grievances as well as other courts in different parts of the Kingdom to meet increasing demand and speed up judicial procedures.

“The new courts will be established in the nearest future,” the minister said, adding that there will be three courts in major regions.

“We are conducting a study of the needs of different regions and cities,” Al-Eissa said. Jeddah, Taif, Al-Ahsa and Al-Kharj will receive new courts.

He said efforts are under way to speed up procedures at appeal courts. “Cases will not take more than a week to get court verdict,” he pointed out. “This is a big achievement,” he said, adding that the courts are manned by qualified personnel.

Al-Eissa also spoke about the ministry’s efforts to facilitate judicial procedures in order to ensure quick delivery of justice.

The ministry recently announced its plan to introduce a new legislation that would force every lawyer to provide free legal services to at least nine poor litigants a year.
Sources at the ministry reportedly said officials have already drafted the law.
