A report released by the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce stated that 11,751 vacancies were announced for Saudis, and astonishingly, only 1760 Saudis applied. The Employment and Training Center (run by the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce) classified the jobs as related to malls, food, technology, sales, tourism, industry and construction. This is the fancy frame of the announcement.

To be more specific, some of the job titles are: Production line attendant, accountant, cashier, showroom specialist, operation analyst, welder, electrician, driver, cooling specialist, nurse, security and driver.

Again, do we really need to Saudize all these jobs? My second question is: Did the Chamber of Commerce make sure that the private sector is committed to paying Saudis not less than SR 4,000 a month? Discussions on social media reveal that many international companies did not adhere to this obligatory condition of minimum monthly salary.

My last question is: Should we blame Saudi youth for their lack of enthusiasm or is the private sector’s offer not attractive in the first place?
