The Ministry of Health has intensified activities for health awareness among the guests of God who are in the Kingdom to perform Haj and Umrah in line with its commitment to ensure the wellbeing of the pilgrims.
The MoH reiterated on Sunday that it will continue with its preventive measures and precautionary procedures as a part of the health awareness program.
The ministry also reaffirmed in a statement the necessity of adhering to the ministry’s health requirements of vaccinations that it has already sent to the Saudi embassies abroad to be implemented when issuing visas for the peak season.
Commenting on the health awareness program currently underway, the command and control center of the MoH explained that all Umrah and Haj arrivals to the Kingdom must adhere to the preventive measures and health requirements in order to limit the spread of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus (MERS-CoV). This includes practicing general hygiene like washing hands with soap and water or disinfectant particularly after coughing and sneezing and use of a handkerchief when coughing or sneezing. People are also advised to get rid of the used tissue safely and avoid touching the eyes or nose as far as possible. They are also advised to avoid direct contact with persons infected with respiratory illnesses.
It has further advised all citizens and residents wishing to travel abroad to abide by the health guidelines and medical advice issued by the ministry and commit to its requirements in order to be healthy and be protected against various diseases and epidemics.
They should visit the nearest health center in the cities or airports in case of any respiratory symptoms such as throat ache, cold, cough and fever as respiratory diseases rank the highest among the most common communicable diseases contracted by people during the summer season and while traveling.
The ministry stressed the need to eat fresh foods and beverages prepared in accordance with the general hygiene standards, so as to avoid food poisoning cases, and the importance of taking the necessary medicines and vaccines.
