The Council of Ministers on Monday urged the international community to implement the Geneva-1 Accord that calls for the peaceful transfer of power in Syria and the defeat of terrorist organizations that have exploited the crisis in that war-torn country.

The Cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Salman, expressed this view during a discussion on the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The two sides had earlier stressed the need to ensure Iraq’s security and territorial integrity.

The Cabinet was briefed on the outcome of talks held by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sissi in Cairo.

The Cabinet thanked the king for his order to establish 11 world class sports stadiums.

Meanwhile, Saudi Ambassador to the UN Abdullah Al-Muallami reiterated that the Kingdom does not support the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terror group. “When we say that we don’t accept any interference in Iraq, it includes Iran,” the ambassador told CNN.

The Cabinet welcomed the results of the 41st session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Foreign Ministers Conference in Jeddah, which called on Muslims to tackle the challenges and threats facing member countries.

The Cabinet reviewed the outcome of the visit of National Guard Minister Prince Miteb bin Abdullah to France and commended the ties between the two countries. It also discussed preparations for Ramadan and urged greater efforts to improve services for Umrah pilgrims during the holy month.

The Cabinet lauded the successful launch of the XIII Saudi industrial satellite (Saudi SAT-4) last Friday, which was designed in the laboratories of the National Center for Satellite Technology at the Aerospace Research Institute at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.

The Cabinet appointed Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al-Jarrah undersecretary at the National Guard for technical affairs; Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Wohaib director general of follow-up at the Ministry of Interior; and Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Nafie director general of health affairs in Madinah.
