For 30 years, the popular dish of foul (Arabic beans) has had no increase in its price. This SR2 delicious plate is a friend of millions of Saudis and non-Saudis. It has proved to be of distinguished loyalty for decades. In Ramadan, the need for foul gets more crucial. You shouldn’t be surprised to see long queues lined up, right before Maghreb prayer, waiting for a chance to buy their favorite dish of Arabic beans. Similar long waiting lines are also seen before Sahoor, as foul, tameez and yogurt are basics in nourishing the body for the tough mission of fasting in such a hot summer.

Foul’s proven loyalty to the poor is appreciated by all. Therefore, it is called in many areas of Saudi Arabia ‘the golden dish of the poor’. The best, of course, is still made in Taif (western Saudi city).
Recently, many foul stores borrowed the secrets of the ‘Taif Foul’ and established similar restaurants in major Saudi cities.

Years ago, while attending a farewell, a British friend told me: “I will miss Saudi Arabia, and I will always remember our every morning’s breakfast of foul.” Mr. Mike said this with eyes filled with tears!
