3-year service must for a sabbatical
The Saudi Ministry of Civil Service has announced that employees must spend at least three years in service in order to be eligible for study leave.
Employees may be granted study leave without pay if they hold at least a high school degree or its equivalent, according to the ministry.
Applicants must also have good performance evaluation and must be leaving to study a subject related to their line of work in accordance with an article on labor regulations.
Article 17 also states that the government department that has granted the study leave must follow up on their studies to ensure academic progress and attendance.
Employers have the right to end the study leave period and request their employees’ return.
