11 stadiums: Aramco told to achieve goal
Saudi Aramco is slated to build 11 sports stadiums across the Kingdom in accordance with directives issued by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
The new project will see standards followed for the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
The directives were issued in a letter sent by the king to Ali Al-Naimi, petroleum and mineral resources minister.
Each stadium will have the capacity to seat around 45,000 spectators.
Al-Naimi said these projects will be set up under a King Abdullah program devoted to this purpose.
The program covers several areas including Madinah, Qassim, the Eastern Province, Asir, Tabuk, Hail, the Northern Borders, Jazan, Najran, Al-Baha and Al-Jouf.
“We feel proud that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has so much faith in both the Petroleum Ministry and Saudi Aramco in implementing these projects,” Al-Naimi said.
“Aramco has already begun forming specialized teams to take initial steps in implementing, planning and supervising the stadium system across the Kingdom’s regions in accordance with the most modern international standards.”
