The National Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha) is currently studying a suggestion to increase the salaries of junior government employees to improve their work performance and productivity as well as enhance their living standards.

This measure comes within the framework of its strategic plan to protect the integrity and enhance anti corruption efforts.

Sources have said that it is among the commission’s top priority to protect the national integrity and boost transparency, improve the family conditions of the public sectors workers, improve the living standards of employees and their households, especially the middle income class of the society, and to provide them with the basic services and create more job opportunities in the private and public sectors.

The commission strategy aims to set a steady increase in the payrolls as opposed to the increase in the population and the number of school and university graduates who should be qualified in accordance with the needs of the work market.

It also pointed out the importance of gradually relying on the foreign labor force and set plans to cut down the number of expat workers in the country to open more job spots for Saudis in the government sector in particular, as well as improving the employees’ salaries.

It is worth mentioning that the national strategy of the anti-corruption entity has focused on establishing a national database to protect the integrity and combat corruption. The database should contain all regulatory and administrative documents, information and statistics on the volume of corruption in the Kingdom as well as a detailed analysis of reasons and impacts on the local communities.
