Makkah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah has instructed relevant authorities to pay debts of “private rights” prisoners in the region in order to release them during this Ramadan, an official statement said.

Prince Mishaal, however, pointed out that the prisoners, who were detained for not paying their financial dues, should fulfill the conditions set by the committee that is looking into their cases.

The governor had earlier set up a committee to study the cases of such prisoners across the Makkah region in order to release them so that they can spend the rest of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr with their families.

Relatives of private rights prisoners, who are indebted to individuals, thanked Prince Mishaal for his humanitarian gesture. “You are as good as your father, King Abdullah,” said one Saudi about the prince.

Abdul Mohsen Otaibi, also a Saudi, commended Prince Mishaal for taking initiatives for the welfare and progress of citizens.
