“I am overcome with emotions I cannot describe and feel very happy to be in Madinah during the holy month of Ramadan. This is truly an opportunity of a lifetime,” said Canadian pilgrim Hashim Haneef Khan to Arab News.

“I have come to the Kingdom for the first time to perform Umrah and praise be to Allah, I was able to do so at the Grand Mosque in Makkah. After that, I traveled to Madinah to visit the Prophet’s Mosque and pray there in honor of the Prophet, peace be upon him,” he said.

Khan says he was particularly impressed with the construction and development of luxury hotels, malls, and other mega projects being implemented in Makkah and Madinah. “I felt a strong sense of spirituality while at the Prophet’s Mosque and was impressed with the Ramadan tables scattered around the mosque, as well as the desire of the old and the young to prepare them,” he said.

Khan said that he had heard about the beauty of Madinah from friends and relatives but only after visiting the city has he fully understood that Madinah is home to some of the most unique characteristics among the many cities on earth.

He said that Madinah is unique for the dozens of historical places, mosques and battle sites of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

“I visited some of these sites during my visit, particularly the site of the Ohod battle and Al-Khunduq battle, as well as the Qubaa’ mosque,” he said. “I was accompanied by my wife and son during this trip, both of whom live with me in Canada, and God willing, the visits will continue as I intend to visit the Kingdom annually if possible,” Khan said joyfully.
