The Toastmasters institution has played a vital role in fostering self-confidence and enhancing communication skills among professionals, said T. R. Balakrishnan, CFO at Abdul Latif Jameel (ALJ) Group.

The ALJ Talkmasters Club, in particular, has helped its employees come a long way, he said.

Balakrishnan stressed the importance of communication skills in conversing and connecting people of different backgrounds after unveiling the ALJ Toastmasters Club’s annual magazine.

Balakrishnan, who was the chief guest at the function held on July 9 at the Village Restaurant in Jeddah, commended the editorial board for their efforts at releasing the magazine annually.

He also extended his appreciated to the president and executive committee for their efforts in conducting regular club meetings that helped the club attain the highest award of “the President’s Distinguished Club” from Toastmasters International for the past 7 years consecutively.

He unveiled the ALJ Talkmasters Club’s annual magazine and Georgios Dilmperakis, managing director of body and paint works at ALJ, received the first copy in the presence of a large audience.

TM Muhammed Kunhi, the outgoing club president, presided over the function and expressed his gratitude and appreciation on behalf of the club to Faisal Abdalla, vice president of ALJ and chief patron of the club, for his support and guidance.

Meanwhile, the Chief Editor TM Cijo Mathew presented an overview of the magazine and elaborated on the magazine’s theme “Energize your Creativity.”

Dilmperakis in his keynote speech complimented the club for their continuing contributions.

DTM Joey Villanueva, governor of district 79, delivered an inspirational speech in which he advised members to be the “tagline of Toastmasters” by becoming good leaders who sacrifice themselves for the benefit of their people. The district governor praised the ALJ management and commended the contributions of ALJ Talkmasters Club in promoting Toastmasters International in the Kingdom. He added that ALJ TM club is a catalyst in the formation of many new clubs in the western region.

Rashid Ali, lt. governor of marketing-district 79, reminded members that success only comes as a result of meticulous planning and its timely execution.

He urged members to spread the Toastmasters message to all their circle of friends to inspire future communicators and leaders that will eventually uplift the community and the country.
