Alfaisal University scholarship for Saudi and expat students
The Riyadh-based Alfaisal University (AU) moved to grant scholarships to both Saudis and expatriates who wish to pursue higher studies in Saudi Arabia.
Students of Saudi government schools where subjects are taught in English, and those who have completed high school from any international institution in the Kingdom are eligible to enroll.
Outlining the details of his admission, Owais Zawadi, a Syrian student in the Kingdom, said: “I first had to do an online registration and submit supporting documents. I was then required to take an English proficiency test conducted at the university.”
AU offers many scholarship programs to enable merited students who have financial difficulties to pursue their dreams. The university provides financial assistance to needy students as well. However, students need to demonstrate an excellent academic record and proof that they are unable to meet the cost of the course they intend to take.
The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) provides every year scholarships equal to 50 percent of the total number of students at the university.
In addition, there are private grant scholarships provided by individual donors and utilized by the AU’s scholarship program to fund in full or partially — based on the need or merit of the student.
The criterion, in this case, is laid down by the private donor in cooperation with the recommendations of the scholarship awards committee.
There is also a dean’s list of scholarships designed for tuition-paying students who have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75/4.00 by the end of the year of study.
According to the university, scholarships are an essential part of recruiting and supporting its finest students to excel in their studies at one of the world’s best universities.
