The news of the Sept. 9 media event was first broken by Re/code’s John Paczkowski, who is noted for his accuracy when reporting on Apple events.
Apple is expected to launch two new iPhones with bigger screens: One is rumored to have a 4.7-inch display, while another is said to have a 5.5-inch display. The new iPhones will also reportedly run on A8 processors.
An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment about the reported Sept. 9 media event date to Fortune.
On July 22, Apple reported its third-quarter earnings, which included sales of 35.2 million iPhones during the quarter, up 12.6% year over year.
