MANILA, Philippines: Airport officials say a Saudi Arabian Airlines plane has swerved off the runway at Manila’s international airport and become stuck in the mud as it prepared to take off after a heavy rain. None of the 298 passengers was hurt, but at least 11 other flights were delayed by the blocked runway.

The airport authority said workers were attempting to remove the Boeing 747 after the incident Tuesday evening.

Flight SV871 bound for Riyadh was canceled and the passengers were taken away by bus and put up in a hotel. Officials could not yet say when the runway would be cleared.
