A Yemeni man was executed in Yanbu on Thursday for the rape and murder of two Asian housemaids about four years ago, the Ministry of Interior said.

In a statement, the ministry said Awdah Ahmad Awdah Salem was beheaded in public after the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence.

A lower court had earlier convicted Salem of stabbing to death one of his victims after raping her and pouring acid on the body of the second one, also after raping her. The sentence was affirmed by the Court of Appeals and later upheld by the Supreme Court.
