‘Ten percent’ of child beggars in Saudi Arabia are Nationals
The Ministry of Social Affairs has pointed out that 10 percent of children caught begging in the streets are Saudi.
The ministry said it is providing them shelter and necessary care in observation centers.
Khalid Al-Thebaiti, the ministry’s spokesman, said most of these children are orphans or children of unknown parents.
He warned of the consequences of child begging, which exposes these children to crimes.
He added that begging usually increases during Umrah and Haj seasons.
