The container truck which overturned after catching fire on the Dammam-Riyadh highway.

A truck accident, in which the vehicle had overturned after catching fire, accidentally led to the discovery a big load of liquor.

The truck contained a license plate from a Gulf country.

“The Al-Ahsa Police Department received a report on Monday at 7 p.m. stating that a truck being driven by an Arab expat had caught fire and then overturned on the Dammam-Riyadh highway,” said Ziad Al-Ruqaiti, Eastern Province police media spokesman.

Specialists in the police department handled the incident as the Civil Defense put out the fire, where they discovered that the vehicle had been loaded with a big quantity of liquor. Customs was notified to receive the confiscated items.

The driver has been detained pending investigation.
