Education Minister Prince Khaled Al-Faisal has promised big incentive to enhance creativity among educationists in a bid to strengthen the country’s educational standards.

In a statement at the beginning of the new academic year, Prince Khaled said: “Our program to honor creativity will be the largest educational incentive in the Kingdom’s history.”

Educational directors in the Kingdom’s 13 regions, their assistants, educationists and outstanding teachers will be the main beneficiaries of the new program, to be unveiled shortly.

Prince Khaled emphasized the need for greater coordination between the various ministries, especially the Labor Ministry, to achieve the country’s strategic objectives.

“Our academic programs must conform to labor market requirements,” the minister stressed.

The minister emphasized the role of leaders in bringing up the country’s new generation and taking education to new heights.

He reminded educators of their great responsibility. “I have said several times that Saudi citizens will show promising creativity if they are given the chance.”

Prince Khaled urged education officials and teachers to make use of these opportunities and give their best, especially at a time when the country is striving to become a knowledge-based economy.

“This requires big preparation in order for the Kingdom to reach high-ranking positions in the comity of nations. There is nothing impossible if we are determined. We can achieve our goals with good planning,” he said.

He said partnership between the various service sectors was essential in developing capabilities among citizens. “Saudis are a people of who received the message and they have to prove that Islam is relevant for all times and places.”

The minister said the King Abdullah project for the development of public education should cover teachers, students, schools, syllabus, technology and management. “Teachers should be capable of shouldering their responsibility and set a good example to students and society.”

Saudi bloggers applauded Prince Khaled’s efforts to promote the Kingdom’s educational level. “We should appreciate the farsightedness of the Saudi leadership when they appointed Prince Khaled as education minister,” said one blogger, who introduced himself as Abu Thamir. “Go ahead with your innovative programs; the coming generations will be proud of you,” Fahd Al-Satami told the prince, a former governor of Makkah.

Prince Khaled extended the term of Abdullah Al-Thaqafi, Zaid Al-Julaifi and Ali Al-Zahrani as education directors in Jeddah, Al-Kharj and Mikhwat respectively. He had previously appointed Mohammed Al-Harithi as director-general of education in the Makkah region.
