This 92-year-old woman was abandoned Thursday at the gates of the Civil Affairs Office in Jeddah’s Safa neighborhood with a bag of clothes, her identity documents, ATM card, electricity bills and the card of a private hospital. The head of Makkah Province Social Affairs Directorate, Abdullah Al-Tawi, said the ministry normally looks after such cases if no relative can be traced. The woman will be given shelter at a home for the elderly and she will also necessary medical and psychological care, Al-Tawi said. Police are investigating the case and looking for any relatives or acquaintances of the woman.
