UN helicopter crashes in South Sudan

In this Dec. 22, 2013 file photo, a United Nations MI-8 helicopter transporting wounded civilians from Bor, the capital of Jonglei state and said to be the scene of fierce clashes between government troops and rebels, arrives at the airport in Juba, South Sudan.
JUBA: A UN cargo helicopter crashed Tuesday in South Sudan’s war zone region of Unity state, the UN peacekeeping mission said, adding it was “deeply concerned” about the fate of the crew.
The UN mission said it had “dispatched a search and rescue team” to the area, near the northern oil town of Bentiu, one of the hardest fought over areas in the country’s more than eight-month-long civil war. The MI-8 helicopter generally carries between three and five crew members.
