Officials of the Ministry of Education have stepped up preparations to receive students, especially those who are newly enrolled in primary schools.

According to educationists, it is important that newly enrolled students get a good impression of their schools on the first day.

With this view, the General Administration of Education in Riyadh Region is organizing an orientation program to help students develop positive attitude toward school, facilitate a smooth transition from home to school and enable students to interact with teachers, fellow students and the administration.

According to experts in the field, building lines of communication between teachers and students are of the utmost importance.

Parents also have to be assured by school administrations that their children will get the required care and attention. Parents are required to play an active role in helping children overcome their fear of school, teachers and fellow students.

Besides developing positive attitudes, schools also need to look into the health and psychological problems of students, an aspect which needs to be dealt with before the beginning of the school year.

School administrations have to be mindful of the financial position of the students and look into the possibility of supporting the needy families.

Suitable class distribution according to the academic levels of students is another area of concern.

The role of parents and families in general is paramount in this regard where they are expected to encourage their children to accept and integrate into the school and educational environment, according to ministry officials.
