The Indonesian Hajj Affairs Office here organized a three-day orientation program for Haj service personnel.

The program is a hands-on training to acquaint the selected personnel with particular tasks required to be accomplished on the ground.

The program included introduction of general policies and procedures of Saudi Government regarding Hajj services: their reception and departure, housing, transportation, catering, the groupings and movement of the pilgrims, raising awareness, immigration, transportation and consular affairs, information and coordination system, security and health care services.

This year, the Hajj Affairs Office has recruited 595 seasonal personnel — comprising Indonesian residents, university students and health care personnel — who will be deployed in three major work areas: Jeddah, Makkah, and Madinah.

The program started Tuesday at the Indonesian Hajj Office Affairs here, and was officially opened by the Indonesian Ambassador Abdurrahman Muhammad Fachir.

The ambassador called on all of the orientation participants to put “sincerity, sincerity, and friendliness above everything.”

He said: “Please bear in mind that our pilgrims arriving here come from various backgrounds, in terms of educations and ages. Some of them come from very remote areas or villages and some from cities. They know nowhere here. That is why not a few of them easily lose their ways back to their hotels. This often happens when they are separated from their groups.”

Indonesian Consul General Dharmakirty Syailendra Putra, heads of the consulate’s departments, director of Hajj Service, police attaché to Indonesian Embassy, and Health Ministry official spoke at the program.

Putra emphasized the importance of working toward achieving maximum satisfaction of the pilgrims in terms of services provided to them.

“Work closely with relevant authorities and communicate with them if you think you need them to attend to a particular case while respecting the policies and procedures instituted by Saudi Hajj Ministry and abide by the local law,” he said, stressing that their mission is to protect Haj pilgrims.

He added: “Be sensitive and attentive to any kind of complaints from our pilgrims. Be gentle and polite to them. Stay committed to early detection of any problem and highly responsive to solving it.”

According to the Ministry of religious affairs, around 168,800 prospective Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims will perform Hajj this year.
