Crackdown on protesters: Acting IGP Khalid Khattak suffers heart attack

The IG experienced heart problem after he was given orders to launch crackdown on protesters.

ISLAMABAD : Acting Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad police Khalid Khattak was admitted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) hospital on Wednesday, after suffering a heart attack.

According to PIMS admin, Khalid Khattak was immediately shifted to the cardiac care unit where he is undergoing angiography.

The sources said that the IG experienced heart problem after he was given orders to launch crackdown on protesters.

Khattak was appointed as acting IG police after Aftab Ahmad Cheema was removed from the post for not accepting government’s order to crackdown on protestors in the federal capital.

According to the Ministry of Interior, acting charge of IG has been given to DIG Headquarters Khalid Khattak.

The sources said that IG Islamabad Aftab Cheema had directed police to avoid torture on the long march participants despite orders of crackdown.
