Saudi Agriculture 2014, the 33rd international agriculture, water and agro-industry trade show, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture for international and local companies to showcase new products and technologies, opens at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center (RICEC) on Sunday.

The premier agriculture show will run until Sept. 10 with around 400 exhibitors from 40 countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, India, Pakistan, the United States, the UK, China, Egypt, Germany, Malaysia and Turkey, participating in the largest agrarian expo in the Gulf region with the Kingdom being the biggest agriculture market in the Middle East.

According to its organizers, the four-day exhibition will cover all aspects of the agriculture and food industries, from cultivation to management, production, packaging and distribution.

RICEC, which is hosting the expo has partnered with Advanced Conferences & Meetings to organize a seminar series during the expo, which will provide the ideal platform to discuss the current and future overseas agriculture investment and business strategies, and how to improve the efficient use of available resources in the Kingdom.

The session will also discuss current trends in technology and the worldwide agriculture industry, and how to meet the challenges and opportunities in the agriculture sector.

A senior official at RICEC said: “Aimed at facilitating dialogue, knowledge sharing and business networking among corporate and government entities, the four-day exhibition underlines the importance of such events to highlight the leadership position and potential of the Saudi market, as well as the strong governmental efforts that are attracting regional and international investors to this sector.”

He added: “The expo will serve as a major platform for discussing, exploring and directing the future of the Kingdom’s agricultural and food sectors.”

Moreover, the agriculture expo is also expected to identify potential solutions to the food security challenges and provide a deep insight on the government’s agenda for strategic investments abroad with key stakeholders.

According to organizers, the workshops will discuss key topics: Agribusiness in Saudi Arabia and exploring future investment strategies, exploring future of greenhouse management and organic farming in Saudi Arabia, growing industries of poultry farming and aquaculture in Saudi Arabia, and Saudi irrigation challenges and future water resource solutions.

Regarded as the Middle East’s largest agriculture exhibition, Saudi Agriculture 2014 is accredited by UFI, the global association of the exhibition industry.

In its 32nd edition last year, the expo attracted more than 630 specialized exhibitors from the Middle East, Europe, the Americas and many Asian countries, including India and Pakistan, in addition to local companies showcasing the latest in agricultural products, services and equipment.
