Kurdish Peshmerga to receive 1st shipment of AK-47 ammunition from Czech Republic next week

Thursday, the Czech Defense Ministry revealed that the Prague government will send its first shipment of ammunition for the Kurdish Peshmerga forces early next week.

A statement from the Ministry of Defense of the Czech “The Czech government agreed last month to provide ammunition valued at million dollars for Kalashnikov rifles and automatic rifles as well as hand grenades and rocket-propelled grenades to the Kurds to help them fight against the fighters of the Islamic State, who took control of large areas of northern Iraq.”

A number of countries committed to providing weapons and ammunition to the Kurdistan region, including Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Canada, Croatia and Albania.
