Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), and Makkah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah, jointly opened the 1,743-room Anjum Hotel-Makkah, the largest in the Middle East, to provide world-class services to the guests of God visiting the holy city.

Prince Sultan and Prince Mishaal toured the hotel’s four restaurants as well as rooms and suites that can accommodate about 3,500 guests. The hotel opening also marks the launch of the first phase of the Jabal Omar real estate project. About 40 percent of the new hotel’s employees are Saudi nationals.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Yousuf Abdul Latif Jameel, chairman of the ALJ Real Estate Investment Company, commended the government’s efforts to develop the two holy cities and expand their hospitality facilities. “Such projects are important as the Kingdom bracing for 13 million foreign pilgrims who are expected to come for Haj and Umrah by the year 2019,” he added.

He thanked Prince Sultan and Prince Mishaal for opening the hotel. He underscored SCTA’s efforts to improve tourism facilities across the Kingdom. He also noted Prince Mishaal’s support to Jabal Omar project. “In the second and third phases of the project, Jabal Omar hotels will be able to provide 7,000 rooms within the next seven years,” he said.

Anjum Hotel is designed in Andalusian style with resplendent archways abundant in number with specially made mosaics and ceramic tiles to impress guests. Its restaurants will be serving a wide variety of international and ethnic cuisine, prepared by its multi-national catering team.
