Turkish soldiers stand guard as Syrian Kurdish refugees wait behind the border fences to cross into Turkey near the southeastern town of Suruc in Sanliurfa province, on Friday.

The Public Prosecutor in Kiziltepe where a Saudi citizen was killed on Oct. 8 said that the man was shot by Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) demonstrators.

The public prosecutor told the Saudi Embassy in Ankara that the Saudi citizen, Fahd Al-Dowairej, was fired at when he was driving by an illegal demonstration staged by the PKK who were protesting the developments in Kobani. The demonstrators, he said, were engaged in violence setting public property on fire and blocking the Silk Road at the Daidman Crossing.

Turkish authorities also assured the Saudi mission that investigation to identify the murderers and find more details of the attack are under way. The prosecutor said that the autopsy report showed Al-Dowairej’s body received several gunshots and that one of them had pierced the left side of his chest.

The embassy said it will continue its efforts to follow the developments in the investigation to bring the culprits to book.

The embassy also issued a strong warning to Saudi citizens in Turkey to keep away from suspicious locations especially where people were demonstrating against the war in Syria.

Saudi citizens should also not hesitate to contact the embassy or the Consulate General in Istanbul if they faced any problem, the Saudi Press Agency said.
