Customs officers at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh intercepted half a ton of ivory being smuggled from Africa to east Asia, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.

They found 588 pieces of different shapes and sizes weighing about 490 kilograms hidden in the luggage of a transit passenger on a flight from an undisclosed African country to east Asia, SPA said.
