New Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Saeed Al-Jaber said that the Kingdom has supported Yemen by providing $435 million in aid to the Social Welfare Fund during September to address the needs of 1.5 million needy Yemenis.

He said the Kingdom has also provided 12 million barrels of oil over a two-month period.

According to Al-Jaber, Saudi-Yemeni relations are close and deep-rooted. He said the Kingdom is keen on maintaining the security, stability and prosperity of Yemen and its people, and that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has gone at great lengths to support the success of the political process in Yemen.

He described the situation in Yemen as sensitive, but said he believes that the wisdom of the Yemeni people will lead the country toward security and stability. Despite the sensitive security conditions in Yemen, he said the Saudi embassy in Sanaa had not shut its doors. This year, more than 90,000 Haj pilgrimage visas were issued to Yemenis, and the embassy is working daily on the completion of work visas, he added.

Meanwhile, Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi also praised the Kingdom’s support for Yemen. During a meeting with the Kingdom’s new ambassador to Yemen yesterday, Hadi stressed the importance of continuous cooperation to boost relations between the two countries and contribute to achieving security and stability in the region.

The talks covered issues related to bilateral ties and the latest developments on the national scene, as well as the ongoing steps for the implementation of the peace pacts and national partnerships.
