Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, on Wednesday praised the armed forces for defending the country and Islam’s holiest sites in the Kingdom.

Prince Salman made the comments while meeting Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahman bin Saleh Al-Bunyan, chief of staff of the Saudi armed forces, Deputy Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Fayyad bin Hamid Ruwaili and commanders of the army’s various units, at his office in Riyadh.

During the meeting, Prince Salman thanked the officers for a “successful” Haj under the guidance of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.

Al-Bunyan said soldiers, with the support of King Abdullah and Crown Prince Salman, would continue to perform their duty to protect the homeland and remain loyal to their leaders.

He said there was high morale among the country’s soldiers.

The meeting was also attended by Assistant Secretary of Defense Mohammed bin Abdullah Ayesh; chief counsel in the office of the minister of defense, Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Rayes; and general manager of the office of the defense minister-designate, Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Issa.
