U.S. pop superstar Katy Perry has apparently cancelled plans to go on a celebratory birthday trip to Egypt this week, citing unstable security conditions, according to media reports.

Perry was scheduled to travel to Egypt to celebrate her 30th birthday on Oct. 25, where she was intending to take a cruise on the Nile River and dress up like Cleopatra, a source previously told the E! News website.

But her plans changed due to security concerns, said the Hollywood Reporter.

The pop starlet’s decision to visit Egypt comes after she posed as an ancient Egyptian queen in her music video Dark Horse.

Although her plans to call off her trip were not verified via her official social media accounts, it has been reported that Perry will be heading to Morocco instead, Us Weekly reported.

Perry is currently on a tour to promote her fourth album, Prism, which topped the charts around the world when it was released last year.
