Patrol units in Jazan were able to abort an attempt to smuggle weapons and live ammunition into the Kingdom.

The smugglers were found inside a valley in the province.

Authorities found more than 100 Glock pistols, 218 Glock magazine extensions, 700 Kalashnikov rifles and 500 items of ammunition upon searching the vehicle, Khalid Quzaiz, department spokesman in Jazan, told a local daily.

“The patrol units stopped the car, which they found to be moving around suspiciously, during an inspection tour,” he said.

In another operation, patrol units in Al-Harth seized 36 slabs of hashish after chasing a group of smugglers.

Abdulrahman bin Saleh Al-Mwaisher, general manager of the department in Jazan, urged authorities to intensify efforts in protecting homeland security.
