Pakistan Consul General Aftab A. Khokher with President of Kashmir Committee Masood Puri and other members on the occasion of Kashmir Black Day at his residence.

The OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) in cooperation with the Pakistan Consulate is planning to hold a photo exhibition highlighting human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir on Nov. 6, to time with Kashmiri Martyrs Day at the its headquarters in Jeddah.

The exhibition will also be organized at the residence of the Consul General Aftab A. Khokher on Nov, 7.

Khokher said the event aims to highlight 67 years of Kashmiri suffering, to commemorate the Kashmiri “Black Day” and share its history and significance.

“The event will be inaugurated by the OIC Secretary General Iyad Madani,” he said, adding that the exhibition is a call to the international community to play its role to end the violations and also to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Security Resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

“We thank the Saudi government and OIC for their continuous support for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute,” he said.

The Kashmiri Committee, Jeddah chapter, observed the Black Day on Oct. 27. The committee raised concerns over the human rights situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and expressed its complete solidarity with the Kashmiri people in their struggle for inalienable rights. It also unanimously adopted a resolution that in the absence of right of self determination, it was not possible to enjoy any other rights as recognized in the charter of international human rights.

The committee reaffirmed the fundamental principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter that clearly recognize the inalienable rights of self determination of people.

The resolution commended Pakistan for its unconditional political, moral and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri struggle.

Denouncing the continued Indian occupation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, it called on India to stop the gross and systematic human rights violations of the Kashmiri people and allow international human rights and humanitarian organizations unhindered access to the occupied state.

The committee also thanked the consulate for extending support to the Kashmiri cause.
